Romantic Asheville has a fall color report for 10/30/2014
Old man winter makes an early visit on Saturday with snow showers over much of the mountains. At the higher elevations above 3,000 feet, it will be cold enough for the snow to stick with several inches expected in the highest peaks, including sections of the Blue Ridge Parkway. So parts of the Parkway (especially the Craggy Gardens and Mt Mitchell area) may close if roads become slick. The best fall color now is in lower elevations and valleys. Best bet for color is in the Lake Lure and Chimney Rock area.
