CURRENT FALL COLOR REPORT
Welcome Leaf Peepers! This is our first report for the 2018 season. We will update this page every Wednesday throughout the season until every leaf has fallen in Mono County.
September 11, 2018: It’s been “sandals, t-shirt & beach weather” for this first half of September here in Mono County. Along with a few afternoon rain showers, the warmer temps have been keeping the meadows and aspen forests quite lush and green. Cooler temperatures are promised this week and should result in a bit more color change this weekend. It’s still too early for any significant color change, but high elevation destinations like Rock Creek Lake, Tioga Pass, Virginia Lakes, Sonora Pass and Monitor Pass will be your best bet to see a few yellow leaves. Keep your eye out for Sagehen Summit as it is usually one of the first places in the Eastern Sierra to have peak color.
