Antelope Valley Wildflower Update 2/25/16

Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve SNR  reports on February 25th, 2016

There are a handful of poppies in bloom around the park, and other small wildflowers are beginning to be seen such as Filaree, slender keel fruit, goldfields, mustard, and fiddleneck. The Joshua tree to the west of the visitor center has three buds. On the Tehachapi Vista Point Trail, the grape soda lupine plants are looking healthy but no buds yet.We are expecting a moderate bloom this year; picking up in time for our visitor center opening on March 5th. It is still too early to determine bloom peak time or how long the season will last.
