This morning we went birding at the Albany Mudflats. We had gone in hopes of seeing Grebes doing their mating dance. Six Clark’s Grebes were present but no mating behavior was observed. As it was high tide, no mudflats were observed either so shorebirds were rather scarce. What wasn’t scare were waterbirds. There were many Green-winged Teal, Ruddy Ducks, American Wigeon and American Coots. Also present were Northern Shovelers, Gadwall, Northern Pintail and Mallards. The only Shorebirds were two Willets, a Whimbrel and eleven Snowy Egrets. We identified 28 different birds today. Here is the list Albany Mudflat Bird List 3/15/15. Also saw some California Poppies starting to bloom.

Sandy You are a man of high values and good conscience. Thanks for giving equal time to the female Mallard. Rusty
