Solano Land Trust Wildflower Reports 2/21/14

Solano Land Trust has the following new wildflower reports:

Hiked twice at Rockville Trails this week. A few flowers blooming and many others are growing. More rain expected next week which will certainly help the bloom.

Also hiked Jepson Prairie this week. Olcutt playa is 2/3+ full. Not a lot of blooms yet but some plants have germinated and are growing. Fritillaria liliacea rosettes are present in a few locations, Viola pedunculata (California Golden Violet) plants are abundant with some in bloom and Blennosperma seedings are present with a few blooms showing.

King Hill on Friday and the viola are all over, lomatium, blue dicks, phacelia, etc.

Docent Hike It was lovely to see some green and some water in the creek beds. We did a big loop and added the Popsicle Trail at the end for about 5 1/2 miles. We saw filaree, white forget-me-nots, bi-color lupine, buttercups, and poppies. There was a very photogenic clump of poppies between markers 12 and13 on the west side of the trail. It was nestled in some rocks with shiny poison oak shrubs, so don’t get too close.
