Today I was birding in Eastshore State Park along the Berkeley section of the Bay Trail between Gilman St. and University Av. It was low tide and there was plenty of shorebird action as well as many water birds. Most plentiful were the Scaup, Ruddy Duck, Bufflehead, Coots, Dunlin, Black Turnstone and Least Sandpipers. The highlights of the day were watching the Bufflehead males doing their display behaviors, seeing the cooperative Burrowing Owl and two surprisingly photogenic female Greater Scaup. 47 species were identified.
