The California legislature has passed and the governor has signed a bill will allow taxpayers to make charitable contributions to the California Beach and Coastal Enhancement Account. Taxpapers will be able to make contributions by simply checking a box on California personal income tax forms.
Funds will be available through the California Coastal Commission’s WHALE TAIL Grants Program, which supports public education on the state’s marine and coastal resources, Adopt-A-Beach programs and other beach maintenance and coastal habitat restoration projects that have an educational component.

I feel fortunate to live in California. We’re far from perfect but much more progressive about the environment than many other areas.
