Birding The Richmond Bay Trail 6/22/13

Today we went birding on the Richmond Section of the Bay Trail from Pt. Isabel to the Marina and walked back partially along Meeker Tidal Creek for about five miles in all. There are lot less birds now that it is summer and most of the ducks and many of the shorebirds have left. Sad to say but the dominant bird of the day was the Canada Goose. On a more positive not there were more Long-billed Curlew than I have seen on earlier walks. We identified 29 different birds (not quite sure which Scaup species)  and may have also seen a Tern but left it off the list. There were also many Anise Swallowtail and a number of Pale Swallowtail Butterflies. There were also a number of both native and exotic flowers in bloom including California Poppies, Lizard Tail, Anise, and Clarkias.
