I went up to the Regional Parks Botanic Garden this morning to photograph flowers. Glacier Lilies, Adobe Lilies, Trillium and Fritillaries were all in bloom. Other flowers of note were Shooting Stars,Alliums, Star Zigadene, Manzanitas, Ceanothus, California Poppies, Wild Currants, Mahonia, an early Buckwheat, and even an Agave. It’s not the wild but might it might be one of the best places to see and photograph native plants right now. Also a good chance to see rare plants.
Even though I was literally focused on the flowers, I identified 18 species of birds. I used sound even more than sight today and heard a number of others that I didn’t know or at least don’t remember. Also my first sighting of an Orangetip butterfly.
