The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Yosemite National Park has released the new plans to restore Mariposa Grove to a more natural state. The goals are to reduce the theme park atmosphere of area and take steps to help restore the wetlands and hydrology of the soils to help the Giant Sequoias regenerate reduce damage to their roots. The plans include removal of a gift shop and parking lot in the middle of the towering trees, eliminate the trams, and construction of a boardwalk over restored habitat.
