Today I had some free time this morning to I went up to Blake Garden in Kensington, CA to see what was in bloom. There were some early bloomers which provided good photographic subjects. What surprised me was the large amount of bird activity, especially sounds. I found that I could identify more of the bird songs and calls than in the past. A tribute to the “Birding by Ear” class I am doing. I was also aware there is still plenty to learn. I enjoyed talking with the garden manager, who showed me an Anna’s Humingbird nest and described the Cooper’s Hawk territorial behaviors she has observed. I did get to see the resident pair of Coopers’ today. To see my bird list for today go to: Blake Garden Bird List 2/20/13
