Today the Fall Birding the Bay Area Class went to Lands End and Sutro Heights Park in San Francisco. I recorded 45 bird species. The bird of the day was a Palm Warbler in Sutro Park. Other notable sightings included a Red-breasted Sapsucker, Red Crossbill and a personal favorite Black Oystercatcher. Also seen was the river otter that has been seen for a few weeks in the Sutro Baths area and a racoon high up in a tree.

To see the leader’s list which includes 55 species as well as the number seen of each species go to “Birds of the Bay Area: Fall Migrations” class

Glad you got to see the otter. I can’t believe he’s still there! Raccoon in a tree was a bonus too. I hear black oystercatchers calling to each other on the offshore rocks but have yet to catch them on the coastal rocks down there.
