I was at Abbott’s Lagoon today for a quick walk out to the ocean and back with a brief detour up to the headlands. The water in the
lagoon was about the lowest I have seen it. There are a few flowers hanging on: Sea Rocket, California Poppy, Beach Suncup, Gumplant, Marsh Hedge-nettle, and Candy Flower.
Birds were much more plentiful although without a scope it was not possible to identify the water birds, gulls and small sandpipers as they all seemed to stay far away. I did mange to id 11 species: Pied-billed Grebe Double-crested Cormorant American White Pelican Brown Pelican Great Egret Turkey Vulture Northern Harrier American Coot Common Raven Marsh Wren White-crowned Sparrow.
