A Million New Species Discovered

That is not a tricky or catchy headline. It is the result of a survey of oceans depths by the crew of Tara.   They searched the earth two and a half years for new lifeforms and found over one million new aquatic species. This included everything from fish and squid to plankton. Prior to their survey it 500,000 species of plankton were known as a result of the survey the number has doubled.

The most troubling discovery  of their survey was that they found thousands of fragments of plastic per square mile in the waters off of Antarctica. Pollution seems to be everywhere.
