Mendocino National Forest Wildflower Report

Also on Calphoto was a wildflower bloom report for the Mendocino National Forest.  Here are the highlights:

from 101 to 162, many yellow fairylanterns and some firecracker plants and lots of yellow ‘daisies’ (helanthus species?), streamside daisies (ergoron species) and many pea species. Around
Covelo pickings were slim, but closer to the ranger station the number of species picked up again.

On forest road 7, penstemons, wallflower, pussy ears, remnants of fawn lilies, lupine, poppies, blue dicks, and more. Taking the road down to Keller lake (keeping right and right again) at the intersection Scarlet fritillary, mission bells, larkspur species. The meadows have many lupines and nice oaks stands, just starting to grow leaves.

Thanks for letting me camp out in your blog for a little while. I had a great time and tried to leave my campsite as clean as when I arrived. I’ll be back!
