Gary Regner Photography has new wildflower bloom report
April 28, 2012 – Hill Country – Second Wave
Despite lack of recent rains and record high temperatures, there has been an explosion of new color around Llano. Firewheels, greenthread, bitterweed, Engelmann daisies, lazy daisies and Texas thistle are all common.
Hwy 16 from Llano to Cherokee – roadsides and many fields of firewheels, prickly poppies and Engelmann daisies. Rating 4-5.
Hwy 71 from Llano to Brady – Excellent, maasive fields of firewheels are common, also greenthread, bitterweed, lazy daisies, Engelmann daisies and prickly poppies.
His website page Wildflower Report is a good source for Texas wildflower bloom updates. He also has a photographic Wildflower Index for Texas wildflowers.
There is also a new few wildflower bloom report from the Hill Country Forum:
Llano
Firewheels are blooming like crazy around Llano. Some of the best displays of this wildflower I’ve ever seen. There are abundant massive displays on Hwy 71 from Llano (Hwy 29) to Pontotoc and even all the way to Brady. Also blooming are coreopsis, lazy daisies, Engelmann daisies and prickly poppies. Hwy 16 from Llano to Cherokee is also very good.
There are new postings on the Texas Wildflower Sightings website.
