Tejon Ranch Wildflowers and Hikes

Spencer Westbrook reports that  “The late rains produced a small wildflower bloom in an otherwise dry year.” He also reported that the Tejon Ranch Conservancy  still has room on a couple of hikes next weekend.

  • First is a trip to Tejon Canyon on Friday, May 4th. This should be an excellent opportunity to check out the San Joaquin side of the Ranch before it gets too hot, not to mention the historic sites, beautiful oaks and flowing creek. Plus, the poppies are really starting to come out on the hillsides above the canyon, which is nice.
  • On Sunday, May 6th, we have a few spots left for our hike up Big Sycamore canyon. This canyon on the Antelope Valley side of the Ranch is right near where the Pacific Crest Trail is going to be re-routed.

To find out more information, please check the Tejon Ranch Conservancy website, http://tejonconservancy.org/events/index.html. If you are interested in either of these hikes, please register by Monday, April 30th.
