Birding The Bay Trail 2/25/12

Today I went birding along SF Bay Trail in Richmond, CA –From the Post Office Annex to Shimada Park. I saw thirty species of birds and was able to identify 27 (dowitchers, scaup and gulls are still are challenge).  I also probably heard but could not  ID a couple more.  The highlight was watching four Brown Pelicans fishing in the bay. Also seen were Swallowtail butterflies and a few California native wildflowers (California Poppy, Bush Monkeyflower, Lavatera, and Suncups).  The sun was strong and I was often shooting into the light so it was not an especially good day for photography.
