The Guardian reports that tomorrow a copy Audubon’s Birds of America will be sold at auction at Christie’s for possibly $10 million dollars. This would make it the most expensive book in history. There are only 120 complete sets of Audubon’s 435 hand-coloured, life-sized engravings of America’s birds in existence and 107 are owned by institutions. It is three feet in height and consists of four volumes of hand-colored life-sized engravings of birds.

I recently watched “Drawn from Nature” about Audubon. Very interesting. And what books he made. Worth every penny! 🙂
