Mount Tamalpais Hiking Clubs and Inns

Mt. Tam. has a number of hiking/social clubs and inns where you can stay overnight or just stop in for a drink or snack.

West Point Inn: http://www.westpointinn.com/default.htm Is the historic stopover for passengers who rode the “Crookedest Railroad in the World” up from Mill Valley to the top of the mountain.  Today it has overnight lodgings and Sunday Pancake breakfasts as well as other activities

Alpine club: http://www.calalpineclub.org/ states it purpose is to  “explore, enjoy, and protect the natural resources of our land” It is open to members every Sunday.  It is a large and active social club with nearly a thousand members offering scheduled hikes, lodgings hospitality, and refreshments.  They have beverages and snacks.

Tourist club: http://www.touristclubsf.org The Tourist Club is the San Francisco branch of the worldwide Nature Friends organization. The public is welcome during selected weekend hours (except the second Sunday of each month), from 1 pm to 5 pm only. It is a frequent break stop for many hiking groups to stop in for a drink.  German Nature Friends activities include hikes, excursions, socials, festivals, camping trips, dances and singing organized by and for the members.
