On  March 11, 2011 Carrizo Plain National Monument published the following wildflower report:

“11 March 2011: Due to cool weather the wildflowers have been slow to emerge this year.  The following sightings are small and patchy.

• Hillside Daisies: a patch near Traver Ranch
• Hillside Daisies and Tidy Tips: beginning to bloom on both sides of Soda Lake Rd. from the Education Center and south.
• Goldfields: beginning to bloom from Panorama Rd. south to the KCL Campground.
• Jared’s Peppergrass: (appears as a long, pale yellow strip) blooming in the center of the plain.
• Yellow and Orange appearing throughout the Temblor Mts.”

 

On  March 10, 2011 Carrizo Plain National Monument published the following wildflower report:

“Due to cool / cold weather the wildflowers have gone into hibernation.  A few Goldfields, Hillside Daisies and Fiddleneck are beginning to show up at the south end and east side of the monument. The Hillside Daisies are noticeable but do not occur in large quantities.”
