Bark Close-ups And More Manzanitas

Yesterday afternoon I spend some time in the Regional Parks Botanic Garden in Tilden Park in Berkeley. Botanic Gardens are a good place to see early blooming plants, especially Manzanitas this time of year. See my recent post Mostly Manzanitas. I was again photographing Manzanitas, especially the Hearst Manzanita, which is my current favorite.  I also spent some time doing close-ups of bark on Tecate Cypress, which has interesting curling, peeling bark.

  1. I was wondering if our colder than usual weather would effect the blooming of the manzanita at the Tilden Botanic Garden. Apparently not! I’ll have to head over this week. Thanks!

    • The bloom seems comparable to the past two years.
