On of the overlooked but birdies places in the state is in California City. The Silver Saddle area in the city has 350-60+ species officially recorded. These links give more and excellent information.

Great information!
Even though it is listed on several of the sites you mention, I can’t say enough about the Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival. They have days of workshops, field trips, and just good information in a well thought out and executed forum.
