As a volunteer docent, you’ll play a crucial role in showcasing California’s unique native plants and preserving our state’s botanical heritage. By guiding visitors through our all-native garden, you’ll help them understand and value the diversity of California’s plant life. Our docent training program equips you with the knowledge and skills to conduct tours and welcome visitors. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including native plant biology, California ecology, the history of the Botanic Garden, horticulture, Native American plant uses, tour techniques, and more. Dr. Glenn Keator will be the main instructor for the class.
Classes will be held Wednesday mornings, January 8 through June 25, 2025, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The cost will be $275 (financial assistance may be available if needed), plus the cost of a one-year membership in the Friends of the Regional Parks Botanic Garden.

Please see the Garden website for additional information. Interested applicants: contact bgarden@ebparks.org
