The position will work in the following areas:
• Timber harvesting policy lead in interactions with the California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection
• Lead in working groups of the Governor’s Forest Management Task Force
• Participant in working groups, including the Board of Forestry’s Effectiveness Monitoring Committeeand the AB1492 Working Groups
• Analysis of new legislative bills
• Representative on matters related to forest species, including Northern Spotted Owl
• Coordinating with CDFW Regional staff to ensure consistency in practice of CDFW’s review of timber harvesting projects
An ideal candidate will have worked in forestry or a broader biological regulatory setting. Additionally, experience with stakeholder outreach, formulating and implementing policy goals, and familiarity with CDFW laws and regulations is desired. Training and support to be successful in the position will be provided.
