Birding Pt. Isabel Regional Shoreline 1/2/18

Today we went birding  at Pt. Isabel Regional Shoreline during the King Tide. We identified 47 different birds. There were large numbers of Scaup and Ruddy Duck out in the Bay. Closer in were large number of Wigeon, Green-winged Teal,  and Willets. The highlights were seeing three Ridgway’s Rails during high tide and nine Wilson’s Snipe at the island opposite the trail junction to Meeker Slough. There was one Eurasian Wigeon. Also a new species for our area list – a racoon swimming in Meeker Slough. Another birder told us he saw two Sora but we missed them.
