Birding Emeryville Shoreline 10/17/16

Today we went birding at high tide along the Emeryville Shoreline and Marina. The high tide results in many shorebirds roosting on the rocks just south of the road and sidewalk. My guesses of about 100 Willets and 15o Godwits are probably much too conservative . There were also about ten Whimbrel and three Black Turnstone seen along the rocks along with one Spotted Sandpiper. We identified 23 species. Also seen were five butterfly species: Monarch, Orange Sulfur, West Coast Lady, Fiery Skipper and Cabbage White.
