San Juan National Forest 10/9/16

San Juan National Forest  reports

Estimated Percentage of Current Fall Foliage:
Durango to Purgatory – 95%
Molas Pass – past peak
Silverton/Red Mtn Pass – past peak
Pagosa – 90%
Dolores to Lizard Head Pass – past peak
Mancos/La Platas – past peak
San Juan Skyway- past peak

Areas with Greatest Amount of Color / Recommended Viewing Areas:
Purgatory and Pagosa.

Estimated Peak Viewing Period:
Most places are past peak and losing leaves.

Viewing Suggestions / Tips:
Past peak doesn’t mean bad.  Just harder to find great pictures.
Weather should clear later in the week for the last bit of color.

Trees That Are Currently Turning Color: Oak Brush, then Aspen, then Cottonwoods.
