Asheville NC Fall Foliage Color 2016 report for October 5, 2016
What a gorgeous drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway to Craggy Gardens with hillsides of red berries of the mountain ash (pic above). Leaves are still mostly green with some bright colors evolving south of Craggy Gardens. Overall, fall color seems to be running about a week later than usual due to the warm weather. So even the highest ridges (including Mt. Mitchell) have just spotty color so far. Farther north on the Parkway, Beacon Heights already has plenty of color on its rock summit. Spectacular fall weather ahead. See more recent photos at our fall photo reports!
