Secretary Laird Issues Statement on Deal to Acquire Lake Tahoe Ridgeline Parcel

SACRAMENTO, CA – California Natural Resources Secretary John Laird issued a statement following the announcement that the U.S. Forest Service intends to buy and preserve a privately-owned, 120-acre ridgeline parcel above Lake Tahoe’s North Shore:

“Today’s announcement by Sierra Pacific Industries and Mountainside Partners that the U.S. Forest Service will acquire some of the last privately-owned ridgeline within the Lake Tahoe basin is an important conservation step,” said California Natural Resources Secretary John Laird. “We congratulate the parties for coming to mutually agreeable terms that will result in the permanent protection of Brockway Summit. Thanks to the California Tahoe Conservancy for helping to make it happen.”
