Codfish Creek Falls Wildflowers 4/23/16

Where to photograph in California – Yahoo Groups (Calphoto) has a report for Codfish Creek Falls

Now is a good time to hike the trail out to Codfish Creek Falls. The trail starts where Ponderosa Way (Highway 80 from Weimar) crosses the American RIver, A good amount of water in the falls, lots of water in the American River. There is a wide variety of flowers now, including yellow star tulip, poppies, at least five varieties of lupine, buttercups, yellow sanicle, deer brush, fairy lanterns (very prolific), indian pink, windmill pink, blue dicks, common madia, popcorn flower, fiddleneck, purple milkweed, canyon dudleya, yellow monkeyflower, pink monkeyflower, checkerbloom, twining snake lily, Hartweg’s iris, whiskerbrush, saxifrage, nemophila, phacelia, snowdrop bush and many others. Well worth the trip down the bumpy dirt road!
