Nolina Canyon South Fork 3/28/16

Anza Borregohiking.com reports on Nolina canyon south fork — in Julian, California.

Our plan was going in the South fork, we haven’t been there for a while and never all the way up to the saddle.

A lot of boulders and some dry falls…..

We found one Astragalus pachypus var. pachypus in the Nolina canyon, they may have spread to the Nolina canyon.

On the saddle we found 3 plants that resemble Asclepias erosa.
Did you ever find Asclepias erosa at 3400 feet in the park, so far we only found it in the low desert.

We will revisit the plants from the other side to check in a couple of weeks to confirm the ID.

Species in bloom below 3000 feet: 67
We noticed last time that the bloom was less abundant than in the Bighorn canyon.
