Yesterday we went birding in Eastshore State Park in Berkeley. We walked about 1.5 mile from the Sea Breeze Market through Berkeley Meadow, West along Virginia St. Annex, south along Meadow border and back to Sea Breeze. It was cloudy, in the low 50’s breezy and the high tide had finished and was going out.
The seasonal ponds in Berkeley Meadow are now starting to form but the birds were not in them today. Most abundant on the water were Greater Scaup, Ruddy Ducks and Coots. In the northwest corner of Berkeley Meadow were many House Finch and Gold-Crown Sparrows.25 species were seen. Best birds were an Osprey, Belted Kingfisher and Say’s Phoebe.
