My Backyard Bird Count Results 2/13/2015- updated

Today with friends we did a local backyard bird count. We spent four hours watching our yard plus several areas within 1/4 mile of our house in the North-Central Berkeley flatlands. Highlights were finding a Black-throated Gray Warbler in a neighbor’s live-oak tree and three woodpeckers, including a Northern Flicker, Downy Woodpecker and Red-breasted Sapsucker (this one was a first for our local list) in the trees along the bike route next to Cedar Street across from the Cedar-Rose Park. We identified 27 species and saw one more gull species that we didn’t quite get a good enough look for a definite ID. It was a personal Great Backyard Bird Count Total record for our patch. See the total list at Backyard Bird count Totals  2/13/15

We also enjoyed a brunch featuring Shaksuka and Brazilian-style Black Beans.
