New Year’s Day Birding & Photos

Today I signed up for Cornell Lab of Ornithology‘s Project FeederWatch. From my backyard FeederWatch viewing area I saw 14 bird species today including a Townsend’s Warbler and Ruby-crowned Kinglet.

I also saw American Robins and Cedar Waxwings in my front yard, but they won’t count for the Feeder Watch. We went out for a walk and when we left there were many berries on our two Toyons/Heteromeles arbutifolia, which are also known as Christmas Berry. When we came home most of the berries were gone. I guess the Cedar Waxwings decided Christmas was over and it was time to remove the berries from the Toyons.
