Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve SNR has a new wildflower bloom report for April 5, 2014
As of April 5th, the hills are green with rivers of orange around the park. The bloom is much better than the last two years, and with the periodic rains we’ve had in March we should have a good bloom spread through all of April. Patches of other wildflowers such as white forget me nots, purple lupine and lacy phacelia, yellow goldfields and fiddleneck are creating a mosaic of color throughout the park.
Poppies open up on nice days, but they curl up if its windy and cold, so check the weather forecast before arriving. It is frequently windy here during the spring. The other wildflowers stay open, however, making a mosaic of color that changes daily.
