Texas Wildflower Report 3/16/14

Wildflower Haven reports

We made a trip to Houston/Galveston this week and noticed many nice patches of bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush along the median and roadsides of I-10 between Flatonia and Schulenberg.  There was a fairly large spot with Indian paintbrush right before Flatonia (going toward Houston) on the roadside.  Also noticed the beginnings of bluebonnets/paintbrush around Columbus and Luling.  The area from Galveston through Loop 1604 near San Antonio looked pretty green, especially between Houston and Flatonia, and these areas got a nice rain this afternoon.  Sadly, I noticed how dry San Antonio looks once we exited at 1604.  There are bluebonnet patches along 1604 between Green Mountain Rd. and 281.  Let’s hope for some rain soon!  At least the areas east of San Antonio look better!
