Antelope Valley Wildflower Update 2/23/14

Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve SNR has a wildflower update for 2/23/14:

California is experiencing a severe drought again this year, and the Poppy Reserve has received less than 10% of our average rainfall.  The hills are still mostly brown, but there are several very small poppy plants that have dared to sprout, and a few have one small poppy flower.  There are also a few other tiny flowers that can be spotted here and there along the trails.  More rain is predicted this week, however at this time it does not look like we will have a good wildflower bloom again this spring.
