How Do Birds Survive Cold?

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology has an article on how birds survive cold winter conditions. They include

  1. Staying in flocks to have more protection from predators and help finding food
  2. Eating as much as possible especially heavy and fatty foods
  3. Puffing up as feathers keep cold away and help keep heat in.
  4. Avoid Wind
  5. Roost in a cavity
