Bay Nature reports that the Blue-footed Boobies are now at Pt. Reyes
Blue-footed boobies are turning up in Point Reyes after straying far from their normal range from the Galapagos Islands to the Sea of Cortez. The boobies, which are causing quite a stir among local birders, may be arriving on Northern California shores because of a collapse in their food supplies in Mexico. They were last seen in the Bay Area in 1971.
The Yahoo North Bay Birds discussion group reported they were seen at Chimney Rock at Pt. Reyes yesterday 9/21/13.
There were also reports on the Yahoo SF Birds group of Blue-footed Booby at the Cliff House in San Francisco on 9/19/13 but reports on 9/20/13 were that the Booby was not found at that location.
