If you thought it was at first light, you would be wrong. National Geographic reported on a recent study that discovered that roosters decide when to crow from an internal clock and not the light of day. In Japan researchers exposed roosters to varying amounts of light and dark and found that the decision about when to crow was based not on external cues but by a biological clock.
