Jepson Prairie Wildflower Update 4/6/13

calphoto has the following wildflower report for Jepson Prairie

many different kinds of flowers (butter and eggs, blue dicks, downingia, owl’s clover, blow wives, meadow foam, lupine, yellow violets, mimosa, yarrow, and popcorn flowers) but they were sparse and short. There were some masses of goldfields along Lake Olcott. No real vernal pools, at least none of the kind I was expecting. They said if we keep getting rain some vernal pools could develop, and things keep evolving during the spring season. I highly recommend the docent-led hikes, every Sat. and Sun. at 10 am. You can go to the Solano Land Trust site for more info. http://www.solanolandtrust.org/JepsonPrairie.aspx I posted a photo of the Goldfields on my Flickr site: http://www.solanolandtrust.org/JepsonPrairie.aspx
