Wildflower Haven reports
I visited Ennis last week – specifically Sugar Ridge Road area. Parts of Sugar Ridge road from FM-660 were green, but other parts very dry. I did see a good crop of bluebonnet plants at the main field that everyone ends up at. The pond at the place across the main field was only about 40-50% full…very low level of water. The bluebonnet plants were in various levels of growth with a few early blooms noticed while others still not complete rosettes. I suspect it will be a mixed bloom with roadsides blooming first. If more rain comes then fields will fill out, but at this time I am not thinking it will be as good as last year. That said, Ennis area always seems to surprises us with new delights, so I am not giving up hope. That area does have a better crop of plants so far than any other area I have scouted this year.
