Birding Miller-Knox Regional Shoreline 2/18/13

We went to Miller Knox early this morning to see if the feeding frenzy might still be continuing. It wasn’t but there were still many ducks to be seen. Scaup were probably over 1000. There were also many gulls, Surf Scoters, American Wigeon, Coots and Buffleheads. I identified 26 species. One I didn’t see that others saw was American Pipit. It was about the large numbers of birds today, not the number of species or any individual bird. Recent sightings here have included Black Scoter, Slaty-backed Gull and Brants (there was a report of brants today).
