Discover Central California just published an article on top wildflower sites for Central California. Here is their list of wildflower hotspots:
- Carrizo Plains in eastern San Luis Obispo County
- Shell Creek Road – San Luis Obispo County
- Indian Valley Road – Monterey County
- Highway 25 – Monterey and San Benito Counties
- County Road G16 – San Luis Obispo and Monterey Counties
- Bitterwater Road – San Luis Obispo County
To see more detail for each location go to: Central California Wildflowers – a true joy of springtime

Hmmm, interesting this list includes only the west side of the valley with no mention of the many backroads through the sierra foothills andplaces like Hite’s Cove trail. Also, no mention of Hunter Liggett and the backroads in the area?

I can understand considering Hite Cove and the foothills as different area, but Hunter Liggett seems a definite omission. I am guessing it mainly reflects the area of the author.
