Yesterday I went birding with Golden Gate Audubon in Tilden Park in Berkeley. We walked from the Stream Train parking lot to the top of Volmer Peak. It was rather cold and at times breezy which resulted in only 13 participants and only 13 birds I.D.’d by me. (Others may have had more.) I found the highlight to be a couple of confers that had a very active block of small birds. We were able to get good looks at Pigmy and Red-breasted Nuthatches and to see the differences between Ruby-crowned Kinglets and Hutton’s Vireos ( two birds that look quite similar. No photos today.
