Science Daily reported on the loss of mountain meadows in the Pacific Northwest. They discussed a study that reported reduced snowpacks, and longer growing seasons from climate change are making it easier and quicker for trees to invade meadows of flowers, grasses and shrubs.
The article also mentions an older study that found the meadows on lower elevation mountains in the Oregon coast range declined by an average of 50% between 1950 and 2000.
