San Juan Fall Color Update 10/1/12

I posted the recent, epic fall colors in the San Juan Mountains in Southern Colorado on my blog at http://photokitfrost.wordpress.com. The colors are peaking from Durango to Coal Bank Pass, Passed peak at Coal Bank, past peak at Silverton, but the drive along 550 North from Durango is not to be missed. Best color drive in the past 5 years RIGHT NOW.

    another hot spot in the La Plata Mountains is to ride/drive up Junction Creek road, pass the Colorado trail/trailhead. 16 miles of golden glory on a backcountry, not 4wd road in Durango. The views from the top of the road are stellar, looking north into the San Juans and Weminuche Wilderness in the distance.
