Rio Grande National Forest Fall Color Report
Rio Grande National Forest has published the following fall color report for 2012.
Conejos Peak Ranger District:
September 12, 2012, Estimated amount of change above 10,000 ft. is 15-20%.
Suggested fall color viewing routes: FDR 250 up both the Alamosa and Conejos Canyons. Cumbres Pass on State Hwy 17 is another good option

Divide Ranger District:
September 14th, 2012 – Above Creede colors have changed about 85%. Colors visible from Del Norte have changed about 25%
Suggested fall color viewing routes: Silver Thread Byway (State Hwy 149 from Creede to Lake City). South from Del Norte, County road 14 (FR 330), to forest road 336 to 360, or FR 330 to 380 (Park Creek Rd), then north to Hwy 160

Saguache Ranger District:
September 14, 2012 – Colors have changed about 80% on the mountains of the Northern Rio Grande Forest.
Suggest fall color viewing routes: State Hwy 114 west from Saguache over North Pass. County road 41G (Carnero Creek Road) travel west of Saguache 14.5 miles on State Hwy 114 to turn off, travel south..
