Today I was birding along the Bay Trail from Point Isabel (near the dog park) about 1.5 miles out and back. We were there at and after high tide and watched shorebirds come in. The highlights were seeing a Black Oyster Catcher, a Snowy Egret fishing, a great Blue Heron hunting, Long-billed Curlews feeding on crabs, and seeing a Cooper’s Hawk fly by. There are still California Poppies, Gumplant and lots of Fennel in bloom. An Anise Swallowtail Butterfly was flying through the Fennel. Here are photos from today including four by Bob Stokstad, photographer and birder, who did the walk today.
